At one point a protester pulled at a gate but other demonstrators tried to calm him down.

Trapped there, the number of protesters dwindled to several dozen as police pushed on with armored vehicles, firing pepper-balls and beanbag rounds at the crowd.
That led protesters to throw water bottles at the officers. Despite tense moments, there were no arrests by the time the rally ended. The governor’s office fired back that the billionaire businessman had used economic data dating to 2000, a decade before Martinez was elected, to exaggerate trends while overlooking her efforts to tie food benefits to work-related requirements.
Emotions boiled over, then things became physical.
A few altercations broke out between supporters of the presumptive Republican nominee and protesters opposed to his campaign, particularly Trump’s views on immigration. I don’t love the dictator – bad guy, OK? “Is my nose broken?” Sentiments continue to flare due in part to a large Hispanic population.
As the rally began to wrap up, police in riot gear closed in on the crowd.
A helicopter loudspeaker and ground loudspeakers repeatedly made announcements that unlawful assembly was declared, and anyone in the area would be arrested if they stayed.
Thirty-five people were arrested during the protests, according to police.

After speaking to farmers who complained of a lack of water for crops, he said: “They don’t understand, nobody understands it. There is no drought.

Sanders’ team took Trump up on it, negotiating with TV networks and getting a million dollar pledge from a Sanders supporter.
