4.5 magnitude earthquake shakes Cushing, Oklahoma
Oklahoma has experience almost 3,000 small earthquakes since 2008.
No one has reported any injuries or damages associated with the earthquakes at this time.
The U.S. Geological Survey says a 4.8 magnitude quake was recorded around 4:20 a.m., near Medford in Grant County.
The natural disaster was a 3.0 magnitude, and its epicenter was located about one mile west, northwest Cushing, 16 east, southeast of Stillwater, 35 miles east, northeast Guthrie and 53 northeast of Oklahoma City. That quake hit at 4:20 Saturday morning.
Cushing is the site of an important crude oil storage hub that is used to settle futures contracts traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Cushing Emergency Management Director Bob Noltensmeyer has said there are no reports of significant damage, only “shattered nerves”.
