45 injured on their way to meet Modi
Prime Minister Modi is in Varanasi today where he distributed Aids and Assistive Devices to “Divyang” men and women.
Twenty-two differently abled persons, on their way to Prime Minister’s aid distribution programme here, were injured when the bus carrying them hit a pole under Kapsethi police station area, this morning.
“At a recent speech, PM Abe Shinzo spoke about Kashi, Maa Ganga and his thoughts during the Aarti”.
The prime minister said his government has been working for the betterment of the poor ever since it was formed.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Narendra Modi recalled his speech even before taking oath of office as Prime Minister, where he had mentioned that his Government would be devoted to the service of the poor and downtrodden. Such people are being bothered but I am not. He also said that the result of such camps is that middlemen will get eliminated.
Old timers are looking forward to Modi’s visit and say that it gives a feeling of deja vu. “If I am in pained, it is by the plight of the poor in the country”, Mr. Modi said.
More than 45 people who were injured in a bus accident when they were headed for the event would be given their equipment at their homes, the official added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Mahamana Express, which will run triweekly from Varanasi to New Delhi, on January 22. He said the Union Government has taken a series of steps in this direction. Named after Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the Banaras Hindu University, the train is fully equipped with modern facilities and boasts of bio toilers in every coach.
Modi congratulated the ministry of railways for the new train, and said he hoped that it would make travel safe and easy for the passengers.
