49ers CEO Jed York: Trent Baalke will remain general manager
The traditional “Black Monday” NFL firing cycle somewhat shifted to Sunday night this year, including the San Francisco 49ers’ dismissal of head coach Jim Tomsula after one season. Because as it stands right now, this team is a laughing stock. While the change could give Hayne the change to renew his role with the 49ers, 49ers beat writer Cam Inman believes a new coach may have implications in Hayne’s campaign for the next season.
“Trent has the skill to do this and get this done”, York said.
York and Baalke don’t have a firm idea of how to set up a front office, nurture a quarterback or get a 53-man roster ready to compete for championships.
“I got a group of guys here, players that just won a football game”.
The 49ers finished the season with a 5-11 record, which saw them finish bottom of the NFC West division. He said he has faith in Baalke’s ability. Tomsula went 5-11 this season.
There were some questions about Trent Baalke’s future with the San Francisco 49ers, as well as his contract status, and we have some clarity.
“We’re in need of somebody who can win Super Bowls, period”, York said. “(I) understand exactly what this fan base looks for and what this ownership looks for. “We want somebody that has a clear strategic vision”.
“We had numerous opportunities earlier in the year to win games, and we didn’t get it done, ” he said. For that, I want to apologize to our fans and for everybody that cares deeply about this team the way I do.
York said that he let his emotions get too involved with the game and that it served as a distraction to the team. Whether that’s talking to fans directly, or that’s social media or from planes flying over my head. The results this season rest on my shoulders, squarely.
They’re good at that and they’re silly enough to think they can keep getting away with all this waste, all the time. His past National Football League experiences would help the team turn around their disastrous 2015 season and his rapport with past high-profile quarterbacks would be a plus when working with Colin Kaepernick. “My family’s owned this team since before I was born and they’ll own the team after I’m gone”, he said. He is expected to travel today to Colorado.
Kaepernick said he suffered the thumb injury during an October 22 loss to the Seahawks. Well he’s right about one thing; we do deserve more. “We can get into tweets that I’ve sent”. General manager Trent Baalke is staying.
All they know is they always have to blame somebody – last season it was Jim Harbaugh (ridiculous) and this season it’s Tomsula (ridiculous that they ever hired him). They want a team you can be proud of on Sundays. “His success at MI doesn’t surprise me at all”, York said. “I love Jimmy”, linebacker NaVorro Bowman said.
“Until we know what’s going on, there’s no reason to discuss it. You just wait it out and see what happens”. I’m doing everything I can to be healthy as soon as I can.
