49ers keep Colin Kaepernick as 1 of 3 quarterbacks on roster

That is America and its athletes at their very best.
We can also agree that there is a disproportionate amount of crime and law enforcement activity in the poorest black neighborhoods, which more often than is acceptable, leads to a tragic loss of life.
The 49ers quarterback has been under a microscope since last Friday’s game against the Green Bay Packers in San Francisco, the first time he chose to sit the anthem out.
But Kaepernick is certainly following in the footsteps of those giants, who bravely protested this country’s injustices even when they knew it would come at enormous personal cost.
Maybe you don’t like his tactics, feel he is being disrespectful to what this country stands for or, at least, is supposed to stand for.
Americans have no problem with celebrities committing crimes, but there’s one thing that you can’t do as a celebrity in America and still have people like you.
It comes as little surprise that Kaepernick made the club.
One correspondent for conservative news outlet TheBlaze called him a “whiny attention-seeking crybaby”, while former Seattle Seahawks star and current ESPN correspondent Matthew Hasselbeck tweeted “easy way to make sure you’re NOT the starting QB on opening day”.
Kaepernick, to his credit, didn’t back down when called out. Lahren’s argument is one that a lot of people use, but doesn’t actually work.
Kaepernick is outraged over the killing of minority citizens by police, and he’s been additionally disappointed in the response by his fellow citizens to those killings.
Reid Sr. says he had no idea his son was planning to take a knee with Kaep before the 49ers took on the Chargers in San Diego on “Salute the Military Night”. but he was pleasantly surprised. This time, he was joined by teammate Eric Reid, who said he had spent days preoccupied with how to show solidarity in a meaningful way.
It says that Kaepernick’s protest has “threatened our harmonious working relationship” with the 49ers.
Yes, damn those Asians who are getting all the top-paying jobs!
Or even make the team, for that matter.
But if this was mainly a football decision, and if coach Chip Kelly had any influence on this at all, Kaepernick was going to start the season on the 49ers’ roster. “It’s all the more admirable that he could be cut by the 49ers”.
Adding to that was the fact that 49ers would be on the hook for his $14.5 million base salary in 2017 if Kaepernick gets hurt this season and is not fully recovered by April 1.
But his future earnings could surely take a hit.
Colin Kaepernick made the 49ers’ 53-man roster today, and though there’s always the chance that GM Trent Baalke does some wheeling and dealing in the next few days, it’s nearly a lock that Kaepernick will start the season as a 49er back-up QB.
That’s what Kaepernick has been saying all along. While hyperventilating at the nerve of a rich man who doesn’t meet “their” requirements before demanding change, they themselves have spent the past nine months hyping an absurdly rich man whose entire candidacy is based on the notion that America is not great and needs to be made great again.
And it was a football decision as long as the locker room remained calm (and it has) and Kaepernick seemed to be focused on football (and he has).
