49ers release Bruce Miller following arrest for assault
Citing San Francisco police sources, KTVU, reported that Miller is suspected of assaulting a 70-year-old man and his son at the Marriott on Fisherman’s Wharf. When his 70-year-old father tried to step in, and break things up, Miller punched the elderly male in the face, breaking several bones, per San Francisco KTVU.
Sources say he returned Monday morning and knocked on one of the guest room doors.
Miller was later arrested at a hotel across the street.
It didn’t take long before the 49ers got wind of Miller’s arrest, as they released a statement confirming that they were aware of the assault incident and were, at the time, “gathering the relevant facts”.
Responding officers were able to locate Miller across the street at a Travelodge hotel, where they arrested him. San Francisco police confirmed to KTVU that Miller was arrested in San Francisco on Monday.
He was arrested and charged with elder abuse, battery, assault, and making criminal threats, according to ABC.
On Monday, the 49ers released Miller, who was in his sixth season with the team at 29-years-old.
The guest’s father came to help his son, and Miller reportedly attacked him, too. He later plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace and was required to undergo domestic violence counseling, according to The Mercury News.
This is Miller’s second run-in with the law in 18 months.
Miller has been booked into San Francisco County Jail. In 77 games, the 6-foot-1, 245-pound Central Florida product amassed 76 catches for 734 yards and three touchdowns.
