49ers will release Aldon Smith
The San Francisco 49ers released outside linebacker Aldon Smith on Friday after his arrest Thursday night by Santa Clara police on hit-and-run, DUI and vandalism charges.
When San Francisco 49ers defensive end Aldon Smith picked up his fifth arrest Thursday, the team decided it had had enough. The statement said details would be provided later on Friday. He missed five games that season as he entered a treatment program for substance abuse.
Smith was released Friday morning and said, “Justice will be served”.
“This wasn’t a DUI”.
Baalke on Tuesday night said the 49ers would like to keep Smith.
“It hurts me because I feel I let the kid down”, Haley said.
The New York Giants are stuck in a waiting game as far as Jason Pierre-Paul is concerned, and they have no idea when he will be ready to play football again after losing a finger to a July 4th accident.
He was carted off to Santa Clara County Jail and his bond was set at $26,000.
Smith was selected for the Pro Bowl team in 2012. He is accused of hitting a car while parking, causing vandalism by hitting the same car with his door when exiting his vehicle, and then leaving the scene, police said, adding that Smith later returned to his car and was arrested.
“If one person out there reads this, and you’re struggling, get help”, Tomsula said.
“Instead of dealing with the problem, I ran from it. And I pushed everyone away who ever said anything about it. Today I get to go talk to guys who have mental illness, that have depression”.
“Although Aldon will not be playing football here, he will be supported”. Later in the year, he pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon, stemming from a June 2012 party at his home.
When it became evident that Aldon Smith would not take responsibility for his actions, Baalke decided that it would be best if the 49ers parted ways with Smith.
Earlier this off-season, Smith restructured his $9,754,000 salary into monthly bonuses for each month he remained on the active roster.
Smith recorded 152 tackles, 44 sacks and one interception in his four seasons with the club. In his shortened 2014 season, he had two sacks. Any time there’s an injury or a circumstance where a player loses time, it’s an opportunity for the next man to step up. “But I think as a team, we have to move forward”.
Now I hope for Kane’s sake that this blows over and nothing comes of it, but regardless, it still makes him and the Blackhawks organization look extremely bad.
