5-year-old grandson of former MI coach dies
Former MI coach Lloyd Carr’s 5-year-old grandson died Monday morning after a year-long bout with brain cancer.
“At 1:21pm today, exactly 15 months since his DIPG diagnosis, Chad gained his angel wings”. This past Saturday, Ohio State and MI State both wore helmet stickers in his honor during their game in Columbus, Ohio.
His mother has been a staunch advocate of pediatric brain cancer research since her son was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma in September a year ago.
Supporters all across social media have been using the hashtag #ChadTough to raise awareness and show support for the Carr family.
With MI playing Ohio State at noon ET Saturday in Ann Arbor, expect a few kind of tribute at MI Stadium. Chad is battling an inoperable brain tumor, and Tammi posted to Facebook on November 11 that he is now in hospice care.
Last year, after MI and Michigan State played in East Lansing, the band spelled out “ChadTough” on the field. “We kept waiting to see improvement, kept waiting to see things turning around, but the reality is that they aren’t”, she wrote.
ESPN is planning to air a segment on Chad Carr this weekend on “College GameDay”.
