55 militants killed in air strikes in NW Pakistan
Pakistan’s army has been carrying out a major military operation in North Waziristan since June 2014 in an attempt to eliminate local and foreign militants.
The army chief, General Raheel Sharif, has directed his forces to achieve “military objectives as soon as possible”, army spokesman Major General Asim Bajwa said in his Twitter post late Thursday.
Bajwa also tweeted that the COAS also ordered ideal coordination between air and ground assaults for maximum outcome.
“18 terrorists were killed and their hideouts destroyed in precise aerial strikes in Shawal today”, the military said in a statement.

12 militants were killed when security forces clashed with them in Pary Gharin area of South Waziristan Agency, security sources said.
Just hours after PAF jets targeted militants in Shawal area of North Waziristan, Pakistan army started a ground operation in the region.
According to officials, nearly 3,000 militants have been killed since the launch of the latest offensive to make it a last nail into the coffin of terrorists that has been destroying the country from every side.
