560-pound man biking across US to lose weight
He hopes to lose hundreds of pounds, and he says he’ll be happier and healthier if he can get down to 300 pounds.
Hites hasn’t peddled anywhere since his bike broke down Thursday night in Tiverton, Rhode Island.
But losing weight is actually Hites’ second goal.
Fat guy Across America/Facebook Eric Hites is riding across the country, not to see the sights, but to lose weight and save his marriage.
He previously authored a humorous cookbook entitled Everybody Loves Ramen, which includes 50 recipes he developed in college. Eric Hites weighed almost 600-pounds when he started his journey in June.
“It’s definitely inspiring. It seems like a really good cause.”
He’s hopeful someone will hear his story and help him get a new bike so he can finish his journey and his transformation.
“When he said he was going to do this, he was so determined…”
Hites initially planned on making the coast-to-coast trip in four months, but now estimates that it could take the rest of the year. Nevertheless, he’s already two months in, and still in Rhode Island.
“By completing this ride I hope to encourage others to get up and get moving no matter their weight”, he wrote on his blog, Fat Guy Across America, which chronicles his trip.
