6 dead in plane crash near Fredericksburg, NBC News reports
At least two people have died following a small plane crash Thursday afternoon near Shannon Airport in Spotsylvania, according to the Virginia State Police.
The small general aviation airport just outside the Fredericksburg City limits is just south of the Fredericksburg Agricultural Fairgrounds on USA 17 Business (Tidewater Trail). A small plane crash landed, with the impact of the crash causing the aircraft to catch fire.
London Police are at the scene of a plane crash at the London-Corbin Airport.
State Police Spokeswoman Corinne Geller said in an email that the private aircraft came to the end of the runway on Friday and then pulled back up.
The plane got as far as the railroad tracks on the airport’s property before it veered left and struck the tree line.
Geller did not say how many people were on board the plane.
The Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
This is a developing story.
