6 killed, 7 hurt when SUV rolls during Texas police chase

Jackson County Sheriff A.J. Louderback said the incident “highlights our President’s complete disregard for the rule of law”, in response to an inquiry from Breitbart Texas’ Lana Shadwick.

Nine others were injured in the crash, two of which later died at the hospital. No different vehicles were included in the accident. Another person remained in the hospital Thursday, according to NBC News.

Officers have identified some of the victims as being from Honduras and Guatemala, according to the police statement.

Authorities are looking into the case possibly as part of a human smuggling operation. Two people who fled the scene were taken into custody. Police added that the vehicle was carrying adults and the youngest, who was killed, was 18.

The police said that the auto had been altered to fit more individuals; the center seat was uprooted, and a back seat had been collapsed down.

He added that based on past experience, “15 people in an eight-passenger vehicle” could be sign of smuggling. Four of the occupants were thrown from the vehicle.

“Something this tragic happens very seldomly, thank God”, Chief Wooldridge said. However, immigrants “bailing out of their vehicles and running off into the pastures” is common in Edna, Texas.
