6 people found dead in Gage Park home
He says police entered the house after receiving a call from a co-worker to check the welfare of the occupants of a home in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood.
The bodies showed signs of trauma, authorities said, and were found in different places throughout the single-family brick bungalow.
The bodies of four men, one woman and one child were found dead inside the home in the 5700 block of S. California, a police source said.
The child appeared to be between 10 and 12 years old, according to interim police chief John Escalante, and two of the adult victims were elderly. Police went to the home and saw what they believed to be a body inside the house. Authorities are adding additional patrols in the area as a precaution, however. There is no traffic being allowed on the street, it has been closed while the police continue to seek answers. She said the family had lived in their home for about a decade and were originally from the Mexican state of Guanajuato. A United Airlines worker said he works with a man who lives in the home, washing windows in O’Hare Airport’s Terminal 2. Asked whether it could have been a murder-suicide, he said it was “a possibility”. Williams said she’s been racking her brains to remember when she last saw the family. A neighbor also noticed a grandfather’s van parked on the street that hadn’t been moved all day Wednesday. The person had missed two days of work, which was unusual.
“I don’t really do dogs, but you know, we’re really trying to care for her”, she said.
