61-Year-Old Monk Attacked After Chasing Robbery Suspect
Footage shows the thief accosting the elderly man at the lottery machine before running outside with his wallet – which contained nearly £250.
A Buddhist monk tried to stop a thief at a South Philadelphia gas station and the incident was caught on surveillance.
The 61-year-old victim had his wallet and $350 snatched before being thrown to the ground at the gas station in a surprise attack.
Police said the 61-year-old Buddhist monk was purchasing lottery tickets at the Sunoco station January 3 when a man grabbed the monk’s wallet out of his hand.
A police spokeswoman confirmed to philly.com, an online publication that covers the area, that the victim was a monk.
“So the monk got up and approached the suspect’s vehicle to stop him, but the jerk got away”.
The victim was cut on his leg during the scuffle.
Police are still searching for the robber who drove off in a dark Ford mustang.
