76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor pulled over for reckless driving three
Jahlil Okafor just can’t seem to stay away from trouble. During the altercation, the driver and passenger exited the auto and the passenger pointed a gun in the direction of Okafor and his associate, per the witness.
Okafor claimed he had been reacting to heckling about the Sixers, who lost to the Celtics Wednesday night to fall to 0-16 on the season. However, this time he was involved with the police.
Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor recently was stopped by police in Philadelphia for driving 108 miles per hour on the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Anything over 40 on the bridge is considered reckless driving.
Okafor didn’t speak with reporters Sunday morning after the Sixers’ shootaround at FedExForum, according to the Inquirer, which also noted the team didn’t deny the most recent report. He knows he’s made mistakes and we know he’s made mistakes.
It’s not like the Philadelphia 76ers are winning anyway, but nonetheless, Okafor is becoming a distraction. Luckily for Okafor, the Sixers losing is overshadowing these incidents that he keeps finding himself in.
The 19-year-old has played well but his team has gone through a tough stretch in his rookie season, losing their first 17 games to make it a 27-game streak including last season.
The incident occurred three weeks ago, the report said.
Laker Facts, a fan-made blog at Sports Blog, said that while Russell is not going to be the next Kobe Bryant, the 19-year-old Louisville, Kentucky native “clearly is going to have something to offer in the future” of the illustrious franchise.
“It was definitely dumb on my part”, Okafor said Friday.
