76ers signing Kendall Marshall
The point guard position is apparently getting a little crowded for the Sixers.
Michael Kaskey-Blomain of Philadunkia initially reported that the Sixers had expressed interest in Marshall.
The Sixers will have plenty of options at point guard with Tony Wroten, Isaiah Canaan, Pierre Jackson and Scottie Wilbekin under contract. Especially considering Jahlil Okafor has, at least temporarily, taken over the mantle as the organization’s most important player; it may be in the Sixers best interest to try and find the type of point guard capable of connecting with the big man as effectively as possible. Yahoo Sports reports that that the Philadelphia 76ers are finalizing a multi-year deal with former University of North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall.
With only scraps left on the free agent market, the Sixers will sign Kendall Marshall, who’s a terrific passer, but is recovering from an ACL tear suffered in January.
According to Wojnarowski, the deal is expected to be fully guaranteed.
In Marshall’s one full season in the National Basketball Association with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2013-14, he averaged 30 minutes a game and was second in the National Basketball Association to the Clippers’ Chris Paul in assists per game (8.8) and fifth overall in assist-to-turnover ratio. Just don’t expect more wins because of it. However, he is expected to return during the first half of the upcoming season.
