88th Academy Awards rocked by #OscarsSoWhite
Alicia Vikander earned the lone award for “The Danish Girl”, continuing the supporting actress category’s recent history of rewarding foreign-born ingenues such as Lupita Nyong’o, Juliette Binoche and Penelope Cruz.
Warner Bros “Mad Max: Fury Road” was the biggest victor, clinching six Oscars, but all were in technical categories such as costume, make-up and editing.
And Adam McKay and Charles Randolph took the adapted screenplay Oscar for The Big Short – another best picture contender. With the film also receiving a nomination in the Best Picture category, it’s impossible to deny the impact that the movie had on the industry and the fans who saw it.
Rock then questioned why this year was the year everyone made a decision to speak out.

Rylance was a first time nominee and won Sunday for his portrayal of Russian spy Rudolf Abel, who becomes part of a high-stakes prisoner exchange during the Cold War between the United States and Soviet Union.
Meanwhile, the films and actors that won the awards throughout the evening were often as unexpected as the political commentary that surrounded them.
The Academy Awards, normally decorous and predictable, are this year charged with enough politics and uncertainty to rival an election debate. Gaga has gone two-for-two with unbelievable performances at the Academy Awards.
