9/11 victims honored at Ground Zero on 15th anniversary
Terrorists crashed a third plane into the Pentagon building in Arlington, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed near Shanksville in a rural area from Pennsylvania after some of the passengers and crew tried to regain control of the plane that that was heading to Washington, D.C. There were no survivors in the flights. A second memorial in Shanksville pays tribute to the 40 courageous men and women who fought the terrorists, preventing even more death and destruction.
“The Daily Star piece promoted by Facebook repeats a lot of common claims from 9/11 “trutherism, ‘ a conspiracy theory based on an idea (unsupported by any actual evidence) that the World Trade Center must have collapsed in 2001 because of a ‘controlled demolition” and not from the damage caused by the airliner crashes”.
He said, “Sometimes the bad things in our lives put us on the path to where we should be going”.
At Ground Zero, following a moment of silence at the time when the first plane hit the north tower, families of the victims gathered and read the names of those killed in the Twin Towers and surrounding area.
He observed the sombre anniversary with a moment of silence in the Oval Office at 8:46 am EDT – the precise moment the attacks began on a sunny day in 2001 – when a hijacked passenger plane slammed into the north tower of New York City’s World Trade Centre.
The number of people that attend the ceremony has fallen over the years but many believe that this year holding special significance and the day falling during a weekend might draw more numbers. “I always want to try to remember”.
For the first time, the Shanksville ceremony is being held outside the visitor center that opened past year rather than at the granite mall that runs along the crash site.
He added that he thinks of his son daily but there was something about the anniversary of the attacks.
Families of the almost 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, were on Sunday set to gather at the World Trade Center site to remember those they lost. After all, the World Trade Center had been a target of a less effective strike just eight years earlier. Both former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who was a senator from NY during the attacks and NY native Donald Trump are scheduled to attend the memorial.
George W. Bush, who was president at the time of the attacks, is not expected to attend either ceremony in NY or Washington.

Of course we all knew that a terrorist attack on our home soil was a distinct possibility. The former first lady has dismissed “conspiracy theories” about her health, saying the coughing was brought on by seasonal allergies and pointing to a detailed report from her doctor declaring her fit to serve as president.
In Kabul, the top American commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Nicholson, paid tribute to members of the NATO-led coalition and Afghan security forces who had been killed since the Taliban regime fell. “And we’ll keep doing everything in our power to protect our homeland”, he added.

Fifteen years after September 11, 2001, the world still is plagued by the forces of terrorism, albeit under different names.
The US, but more increasingly Europe, have been hit by such attacks, including the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and the 2015 San Bernardino killings in California. “It will also contribute to the economic vitality of the area”.
