9 monitored for possible Ebola exposure in Alabama
Reportedly, two family members of the UAB patient who displayed possible “Ebola-like symptoms” Monday are in isolation.
Earlier this summer, Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital was placed on alert after a patient presented with Ebola-like symptoms.
Jefferson County Medical Director Edward Khan said the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have been notified.
Joe Roberts confirmed multiple people were quarantined after responding to a call at a house at 1612 17th Street SW Tuesday evening.
Police officials were posted outside the patient’s home Tuesday to keep the family members isolated, WVTM 13, an NBC affiliate, reported. Hospital officials called the patient “low-risk” but are testing the person for Ebola. Kahn said a number of tests for Ebola and travel-related diseases are ongoing. Results of the patient’s tests are expected by Wednesday, the report added.
