‘Mad Men’ star Hamm and Westfeldt split after 18 years
The actor’s representative said at the time: “With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction”.
Since the couple doesn’t have any kids, I highly doubt we’re going to have a repeat of Ben and Jennifer’s “Nanny-gate” – in fact, the low-key couple kept so much of their relationship out of the press that it’s likely we won’t hear much about their split following their tasteful announcement.
An insider told Us Weekly that the pair “definitely tried” to stay together; however, they couldn’t agree on one major issue – having children. Westfeldt, 45, is a screenwriter and actress. I never thought I’d be this age and not have kids.
Last year, Hamm said he felt very lucky to have Westfeldt in his life.
However, a source confirmed to “Entertainment Tonight” that the couple’s surprising split wasn’t actually a surprise.
A source has revealed the 44-year-old actor’s “party-heavy lifestyle” may be the cause of his breakup from the 45-year-old director. “So, basically, he didn’t want to have children with Jennifer Westfeldt, but he is totally okay with playing step-daddy with Sandra and her son Louis?” Though they never tied the knot, the couple was together for 18 years, which was long before Jon became Don Draper.
Hamm said in an interview several years ago: “We may not have a piece of paper that says we’re husband and wife, but after 10 years, Jennifer is more than just a girlfriend”.
In 2011, Hamm told the Hollywood Reporter that he and Westfeldt frequently included having kids in their discussions about the future, but according to him it was not for them yet.
