Emily Blunt Had to Renounce the Queen to Become a US Citizen
As it turns out, McConaughey did have an interesting look for Camila’s citizenship ceremony, but it still made for a fun family picture! But British actress Emily Blunt, a newly naturalized American citizen, has never heard of it, so on an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she fumbled a quiz.
Blunt also revealed some questions she was asked during the background check, such as “Are you a habitual drunkard?” “Did you not like that I wasn’t before?” “And we were like, ‘It’s a pool party, that’s unusual that you wouldn’t bring some trunks.’ The pool was so cold that as he was getting out, he said: ‘Nobody look man, ‘ and we were trying not to”. The actress jokingly replied, “Oh, we do!”
“Oh we do, very much”, Blunt said. “But now I’m only half better”.
Emily explained, “It’s so unusual and slightly disarming. I said, ‘Well, I was.'” Her lawyer was not amused. She was supported by her American husband John Krasinski, but admits she had mixed feelings about the occasion.
Kimmel then chose to give Blunt his own version of the test and watched in amusement as she failed miserably. “It was the most weird day”.
It might be understandable that Blunt, who stars in the new film Sicario, doesn’t recognize DQ as Dairy Queen because the brand does not yet have a presence in her home country of Great Britain. “‘Have I ever been a prostitute?’ was another question”. The most frightful part for Blunt, though, was having to renounce Queen Elizabeth II.
