Modi to inaugurate global airport in Chandigarh today
Thousands of students in government and private schools across the union territory of Chandigarh will enjoy a holiday on Friday, as authorities declared a holiday in all schools to coincide with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit here. Meanwhile, the city, which will be developed as “Smart city” under central scheme has been spruced up for the Modi’s visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is now in Chandigarh, inaugurated a new terminal at the Chandigarh Airport on Thursday.
The first engagement will be an address at Sarsawa near Saharanpur in western Uttar Pradesh, official sources said.
The new terminal airport has been constructed at a cost of Rs. “World is looking at preventive healthcare and this was seen when the world marked Yoga Day so enthusiastically”, Prime Minister Modi said at the 34th convocation ceremony of the prestigious PGIMER in Chandigarh.
Prime Minister’s visit has also created a lot of inconvenience to the Chandigarh residents as the security agencies have laid siege to the entire city, places in particular which will be visited by the PM. Reportedly, examinations scheduled today in some schools have also been postponed. Former Railway minister and senior Congress leader Pawan Bansal said the administration is misusing public money to organise a Politicall rally.
