Cosby accuser asks for all his testimony to be made public
The latest revelation regarding Bill Cosby giving women drugs before sex has ignited a new firestorm around the man best known for his role as Heathcliff Huxtable, and prompted major institutions like Disney to erase his likeness from their facilities. The owners, who have showcased Cosby at ribbon-cuttings and in a mural along the side of its main restaurant, told The Washington Post that they are still trying to figure out what kind of presence he will have at their newest location.
Many of Cosby’s dozens of accusers said he raped, sexually assaulted or drugged them as early as the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
According to the Associated Press, at least two of the woman admitted they willingly took drugs given to them by Cosby. Now Cosby has been “caught with it”, all right, but it’s not stolen pound cake – it’s a fistful of Quaaludes to put young women he “wanted to have sex with” asleep. He also freely gave advice and opinions on society’s failings, which weren’t welcomed as much as the money. Asked if they knew what they were taking, his lawyers objected and he never answered.
Joan Tarshis, who said Cosby raped her when she was 19, said she “never thought this day would happen”. “I’m just so relieved that the truth has come out”.
Bill Cosby’s first accuser has asked a judge to release the comedian’s full deposition in her sex-assault lawsuit, saying Cosby and his representatives broke the confidentiality agreement that sealed the… Cosby, with his lawyer, talked to police for about 90 minutes. A judge unsealed excerpts from Cosby’s deposition after a request by The Associated Press.
Whoopi Goldberg has emerged as Bill Cosby‘s most prominent public defender this week and she has an mad message for her critics: Back off!
“You are still innocent until proven guilty”, Goldberg said Tuesday.
It was labeled the “pound cake” speech for this passage: “Looking at the incarcerated, these are not political criminals”, Cosby said.
“After 10 long years, it really was quite fantastic”, she said. “Then, when we came out, and lots of other women started to come out, we were called liars”, she said.
And in most of the cases, it’s unlikely Cosby will ever be prosecuted because the statute of limitations has passed.
Cosby has not commented on the unsealed documents. His attorneys have consistently denied the accusations.
Cosby’s lawyers have yet to reply to the motion in court. And what are the chances that Cosby could still face his accusers in court? She is one of three women now suing him for defamation. Cosby lost the right to privacy, in this case, because he “donned the mantle of public moralist and mounted the proverbial electronic or print soap box to volunteer his views on, among other things, childrearing, family life, education and crime”, Robreno wrote.
A spokesman noted that LAPD had already been investigating claims made by a string of women past year, when Cosby was engulfed in a firestorm of allegations, although no charges have been brought. Constand’s lawyer asked if he had kept the sedatives through the 1990s – after they were banned – but was frustrated by objections from Cosby’s attorney. Cosby described the kind of black community uprising we saw in Ferguson that can lead to positive change – “Then we all run out and are outraged: “The cops shouldn’t have shot him”” – only to dismiss it with the most ridiculous of rhetorical questions, as if shoplifting a pound cake (or, to update the image, some cigarillos) were an offense punishable by death.
She said she woke up the next morning sore, with her clothes askew and a vague memory of being fondled.
One such commentary, a decade ago during a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision on segregated schools, was cited by Robreno in his ruling.
