SurveyMonkey names CEO to replace David Goldberg

Goldberg died in a treadmill accident, when he was on vacation with his wife in Mexico.

Meanwhile, SurveyMonkey, Inc. has revealed on its website that Bill Veghte will soon join the company as its CEO. The company decided to make a series of changes to ensure the stable running of the online platform.

Veghte, formerly Hewlett-Packard Co.’s HPQ, -1.14% operations chief, will assume the role August 3. “He and I are very similar in our culture and in approach, and in concepts and experiences”.

Of Veghte’s appointment, Sandberg could not be more confident. Lurie, who will continue to serve as an executive vice president at GoPro, has also served as chief financial officer of CBS Interactive, the publisher of CNET.

“The reality is that I share in their loss”, he said. “He was an fantastic person”. The company will use the funds to bolster the company’s ability to pursue future M&A transactions, as well as to provide an opportunity for existing investors and employees to sell some of their equity. “But I think it will bring a new beginning to the company”.

When Bill Veghte, ex- head of HP Enterprise stepped down last week quite suddenly, nobody knew where he would land.

SurveyMonkey declined to disclose Veghte’s compensation. He was a “significant” shareholder in the company, according to Bennett Porter, a company spokeswoman.

The announcement came a day after the online polling company said Sheryl Sandberg, Goldberg’s widow and the chief operating officer of Facebook Inc., had joined SurveyMonkey’s board.

Veghte was also an old friend of Goldberg who had asked him to join the SurveyMonkey board earlier this year. Shortly before his death, Goldberg had rolled out SurveyMonkey’s first new new data service, Benchmarks, which lets customers compare their survey results to others who asked those same questions. After releasing an iOS app in 2014, its mobile traffic exploded.
