Marvel’s Jessica Jones gets release date
There’s more than a few aspects of the new teaser worth examining, beyond the November 20 premiere date for Marvel’s Jessica Jones.
The teaser trailer that came with the announcement doesn’t show much in terms of footage, but it does at least hint at what the show might be tonally. In high school she had a secret crush on Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man., though it’s unclear if he’ll appear in the show now that he’s officially part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. The show aired last February, while “Agents of SHIELD” was on winter hiatus, and was renewed for a second season. Krysten Ritter plays Jessica and Devid Tennant also stars as Kilgrave aka The Purple Man, the supervillain responsible for ending Jess’s superhero career (the incident apparently being so bad that Jess now suffers form PTSD). After those shows have their runs, all four characters will team up for the ensemble show “The Defenders“.
“Alias” art of Jessica Jones by David Mack. Netflix signed-on to host four Marvel-themed series, The first series follows the crime-fighting antics of “Daredevil“, which launched a year ago. The series will be based on Jessica Jones’ Alias arc, and if this small tease tells us anything (besides the release date) is that the tone of series will match the comic.
“Rachael’s ability to embody a character that must balance both the darker and lighter elements of our series will provide a ideal emotional anchor for Jessica Jones“, said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television in a statement. She might be more of a street level hero than a god of thunder but she’s absolutely a good choice for Marvel Studios’ first live-action female lead.
Netflix and Marvel announced that they will be bring Jessica Jones alive and to a screen nearest you. So in short, we’ve got a lot of great binge-watch material on the horizon folks.
