STAR TREK: Keith Richards and Bowie
Peter Capaldi wants David Bowie to guest star on “Doctor Who”. Richards, meanwhile, has appeared as the father of Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.
The 57-year-old actor is gearing up for his second season as the titular character in the sci-fi series and while the show has had a number of high profile guest stars over the years, Peter’s number one choice would be musician Bowie.
In the new series, we’ll see the Doctor playing a guitar, which could mean a riff-to-the-death rock battle.
The ninth season of “Doctor Who” is now getting set to air on September 19, and in preparation of that launching once again, the BBC was nice enough on Friday to release what is considered to be the prologue to what lies ahead. We know to expect the return of Missy (Michelle Gomez), as well as more Dalek adventures and the revival of classic villain Davros.
“Quite who the Doctor is remains mysterious to me – which is of course as it should be – but one of the biggest challenges that I’ve found, and am finding, is that you have to sort of be able to spin on a penny”.
The actor also teased that the Doctor would make a grave mistake that has “cataclysmic repercussions” and this would push him to go into hiding. According to the recently released trailer, the Doctor may meet the young Davros, the evil creator of the robots. “It’s extraordinary because your life does change in some ways quite dramatically”, he said.
“From his very first scene in “The Magician’s Apprentice” though, Capaldi maintains that hard balancing act of clearly tipping the hat to his predecessors while also bringing something unmistakably his own to the part”, Digital Spy explained.
He added that he has gotten used to the extra attention, “What you get is affection”. “You’d have to be very stony-hearted to not be charmed by how kindly people look upon the Doctor”.
Doctor Who returns in just over a week now, and we’ve got a prologue that’s teasing… something?
