Woman’s body recovered after falling overboard from cruise ship off
Police say a 20-year-old pregnant woman driving with a learner’s permit has had to be extricated from her vehicle following an accident just outside Syracuse.
BOSTON- The Federal Bureau of Investigation has stepped in to take over the probe into the death of a passenger onboard the Seabourne Quest luxury cruise ship Friday off the north shore of Massachusetts.
Around 8:30 p.m. her body was found by the Rockport Harbormaster, which had emergency personnel aboard.
“We heard it on the radio, and we got underway”, Rockport harbormaster Rosemary Lesch told the Herald.
The initial call to the Coast Guard from the Seabourn Quest came at 7 p.m., and reported a woman falling overboard. At this time the woman’s identity has not been released.
Several search and rescue teams responded and searched the area.
The ship, based out of the Bahamas, had left Boston Friday afternoon on a 10-day cruise to Montreal and was bound for Bar Harbor, Maine, officials said.
The Seabourn Quest, built at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Italy, was named in Barcelona in 2011.
