Pokemon Go Augmented Reality Game for Android and iOS Announced
It’s been almost 20 years since many of us decided we wanted to grow up to become Pokemon Masters, and while I’m still working on achieving that dream, a new Pokemon game may bring us that one step closer.
Pokemon Go already has a very impressive trailer, showing people all over the world encountering Pokemon in unique locations.
They will be able to capture these creatures and even swap them or engage in battles with other players through their mobile devices.
Users can hold up their smartphone camera in a public place to “see” game characters placed around the landscape by the game, according a video demonstration on the company’s website.
Pokemon Go is set to launch sometime in 2016 for Android and iOS devices.
Development on Pokemon Go is being lead by Niantic, a team that is actually very familiar with the intersection of mobile gaming and augmented reality.
“Pokemon Go” Plus will be released at the same time as the game but its price has not yet been announced by Nintendo.
Niantic Labs was founded by Google Earth co-creator John Hanke as a start-up within Google itself. This game has just been announced by the Japanese game-maker along with The Pokemon Company and Niantic. “All of them have helped to expand the game population”, Miyamoto said. After linking with the game, it will flash and beep when Pokemon are nearby and players can use the device to catch ’em all with the press of a button.
Following the announcement of “Pokken Tournament” for the Wii U and “Pokemon Go” for iOS and Android, the hopes of Gen 7 seems dimmer and dimmer for next year. While the peripheral Pokemon Go Plus will undoubtedly have a cost, there’s no telling if the app itself will have microtransactions or not.
