X Box One system update released
Other new features of the updated Xbox Music for Android and iOS apps include offline playback support on a wider range of devices, the ability to download individual songs and albums for offline use, and also the ability to filter offline music.
That said, they don’t address the central issue with Xbox Music/Groove on Android and iOS: these apps are still very limited compared to the same apps on Windows, Windows phones, the web, or even Xbox, and provide a unusual playlists-based interface.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has pushed out an update for Xbox One to enable streaming of games through the console on Windows 10.
Xbox Music has faced a huge challenge from rival music streaming services and apps, such as Spotify, Pandora, Rdio and the new Apple Music.
Are you excited for Windows 10?
Xbox Music for iOS and Android now allows you upload your own music to Microsoft’s OneDrive and now stream them on Xbox Music to your iPhone or Android device. A great many Xbox One gamers tether the console to the largest television set in the house, but that can be inconveniencing for other family members. But you can’t access the Xbox Music Radio station, which creates custom stations based on your favorite artists.
Today’s updates were somewhat unexpected: Microsoft had previously promised to add support for OneDrive-based music later in the year, and with the recent announcement about Xbox Music being rebranded to Groove this summer, I wasn’t expecting any changes until that happened.
LeBlanc said the new Groove service will have access to 40 million songs and offer “an improved experience for listening to and managing your music”. You can download playlists, songs and albums for offline use on many devices.
