Man used phone to call 911 after attack by bear in Alaska
A 62-year-old man was seriously injured in a bear mauling on the Kenai Peninsula Sunday, authorities say.
Hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg says Excessive’s household does not need particulars launched about his accidents, however she says the accidents require surgical procedure.
Alaska State Troopers said High was attacked around 4:50 p.m. Sunday.
Terry Bookey says Excessive referred to as 911 after the assault.
Danny High, and a neighbor’s dog, Leila, were attacked near amusing River. He was not armed with a gun or bear spray.
High walked the dog every day on the same trail, Diane Deming, the dog’s owner told KTUU-TV.
Troopers were unable to find the bear.
A LifeMed helicopter and other first responder vehicles and personnel were dispatched to the area and transported High to the hospital. A Fish and Game biologist was among officials who inspected the vicinity on Monday, according to Harms. The biologist was unable to identify the area where the attack occurred, Harms said.
Officials are investigating whether High was attacked by a brown bear or a black bear, according to Harms.
