Trapp nightmare as PSG held by Bordeaux
Edinson Cavani stepped up for Paris Saint-Germain and scored a first-half double for the Ligue 1 champions on Friday night.
However, Trapp then failed to deal with a simple Henri Saivet header, only for Cavani to spare his keeper’s blushes with a well-taken free-kick before the break. Wahbi Khazri happily took the ball off the PSG number one and applied the finish.
“But I hope he has the personality to do the same again next time, only with more efficiency, and that could be as early as Tuesday”.
After receiving a pass back from a defender, Trapp decided to burn up all his free time and allow a Bordeaux forward to close him down.
But the former Bordeaux boss conceded: “We have not played a great game”.
Di Maria was lively, constantly weaving his way into central positions from the right flank, but it was Cavani who opened the scoring just past the midway point in the first period after a moment Bordeaux goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso will want to forget.
Bordeaux were reduced to 10 men in the 77th minute when Saivet was shown his second yellow card of the game after a needless tackle on Verrati.
At the other end of the pitch four minutes later, it was another howler of a goalkeeping error that resulted in the tie’s second goal.
