FAA: All US United Continental flights grounded
Nate Silver’s 538 site reported in June that United flights were delayed more, on average, than those of any other airline during the 12 most recent months for which data was available.
United issued a statement saying it suffered from “a network connectivity issue this morning”, and apologizing for to customers for any inconvenience.
United Airlines is still scrambling to fix computer issues a day after a glitch briefly grounded its entire fleet, canceling at least 20 flights.
“We experienced a network connectivity issue this morning”.
At Denver global Airport, a major United hub, hundreds of passengers waited in lines to rebook flights as airline staff tried to keep things moving smoothly.
The carrier has been struggling with problematic computer systems since its merger in 2010 between UAL its ex- parents and Continental Airlines that created the current United Continental.
At Los Angeles worldwide Airport, Meni Tsirbas arrived an hour early for his morning flight to Newark, New Jersey. If passengers did not have a hard-copy of their boarding pass, one Connecticut airport would not let them check in.
A computer glitch is being blamed for disrupting United Airlines flights around the country. The problem affected more than 150 United Airlines flights that day.
President Barack Obama along with White House and United States treasury officials were briefed about the stoppage and were monitoring the situation, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said. The company said that passengers who could voluntarily change their travel plans due to this grounding will not have to pay the normal fees imposed on such changes, reports CNN Money.
“However, we do have some overlapping routes with United, so we could possibly see some bookings made today as they work to clear the backlog”, said spokesman Robert Palmer.
