Oklahoma death row inmate seeks stay for review

Death penalty opponents called for the end of capital punishment and pleaded with Gov. Mary Fallin to grant a stay of execution for death row inmate Richard Glossip during a rally at the state Capitol Tuesday.

Meanwhile Sarandon, Branson and US TV personality Phil McGraw, or “Dr Phil”, threw their weight behind Glossip’s cause.

Glossip’s lawyers went to the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on Tuesday to request an emergency stay of execution.

Lethal injection executions are expected to take 10 minutes, and in all three cases, the men could be seen gasping for air. After reviewing it with my legal team, we have determined the vast majority of the limited content is not new.

The US Supreme Court has said that Sneed has exhausted all appeals and will face lethal injection on Wednesday at 3pm local time. Glossip says he was framed by the killer, who is serving a life sentence.

In statement the juror said: “If the defence would have presented the case that they are presenting now in the original trial, (and dare I say even the jurors in the second), I would have not given a guilty verdict”.

“Mr. Van Treese would not be dead but for Mr. Glossip offering what Mr. Sneed thought was half of $10,000 to kill Barry Van Treese”, Prater said. “I hope the execution brings a sense of closure and peace to the Van Treese family, who has suffered greatly because of Glossip’s crimes”.

Nancy Vollertsen holds a photo of her brother, Greg Wilhoit, who… Glossip is maintaining his innocence on the eve of his execution, saying he hasn’t given up hope that his lethal injection will be halted. Wilhoit proclaimed his innocence from the beginning.

“For months, and as part of a larger publicity campaign opposing the death penalty, Richard Glossip’s attorneys have been publicly claiming to have new evidence that exonerates their client”.

A fellow inmate, Michael Scott, said in an affidavit that he heard Sneed say “he set Richard Glossip up, and that Richard Glossip didn’t do anything”.

“Right now, in prison, Justin Sneed is laughing at everybody who’s involved, because they made a decision to believe him”, Knight said.

I have never been in trouble with the law in my life. My duty was to come to Oklahoma and alert you that this would be a big mistake.

Glossip’s attorneys said they’ve uncovered new evidence that shows Sneed lied.
