Microsoft to Launch Surface Pro 4, New Lumia Phones On October Event

Microsoft plans to hold a press event on October 6 in New York where the company may show its lineup of new devices running Windows 10.

While the launch date of Windows 10 Mobile is still shrouded in mystery, Microsoft is at least treating platform enthusiasts to new Insider Preview releases.

It’s likely Microsoft will finally unveil the eagerly anticipated Surface Pro 4 tablet hybrid.

If rumors are to be believed, then we would be witnessing the launch of a bigger Surface tablet this year at the event. The larger device will require new accessories such as type covers and docks but will actually be thinner than the 12-inch Surface Pro, says Windows Central.

The Microsoft Band launched last October, so is due a refresh. For the event, which will begin at 10 a.m. ET, Microsoft sent out invitations to the media on Monday, September 14.

Dell has already entered into a partnership with tech giant Microsoft for a Surface Enterprise Initiative that allows it to market the latter’s products like its Surface Pro line.

I am not so sure that Nokia Lumia 1020 users will view the easy solution as an acceptable recourse to not being able to use their hardware and test Windows 10 Mobile.

The XPS 12 is also rumored to come with the newer Thunderbolt 3 port, which makes data transfer much faster than traditional USB 3.0 connections.

Microsoft is also supposed to release Windows 10 Mobile for phones sometime next month. Images of both phones have appeared online, alongside fairly comprehensive specification lists. They are expected to be the stars of the event on October 6.

Windows 10 mobile – just one of the seven different versions of Windows 10 – will run on smartphones and smaller tablets, to replace Windows Phone 8.1.

According to previous reports of Microsoft’s flagship Windows smartphones, the Lumia 950 will feature a 5.2-inch WQHD (1440×2560) display and will be powered by QUALCOMM’s Snapdragon 808 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM.
