Sony Reveals Official Name for Project Morpheus
Although Microsoft has showed off “Minecraft” with Hololens, Sony, on the other hand, has not demonstrated its VR headset with any game yet. Names such as Google, Netflix and just very recently, Apple, among many others, have joined in the innovation of big devices that have gaming focus.
Currently, Sony has not confirmed its release date; however, they mentioned that the PlayStation VR will be released by 2016. A few of them include Facebook Inc.’s (NASDAQ:FB) Oculus VR, HTC Vive, Samsung Co. These comments were made at a news conference held in Tokyo wherein he also revealed the name of Sony’s headset for the virtual reality project, “PlayStation VR”, which was usually known as the Morpheus.
So there you have it, Sony has decided not to go insane with its nomenclature but stick to the basics – this is a VR headset for PlayStation after all. Hatsune Miku is a Japanese idoru, a virtual idol and singer who has been covered on SiliconANGLE before as part of an augmented reality story.
The Playstation VR highlight reel from the SCEJA conference can be seen below. The VR game features the “class trial” portion of the original series, which portrays a surreal trial at a school where the player must expose a killer amid the students. There have been many demos at various different game shows over the past 18 months, including Ubisoft’s Trackmania Turbo, Bandai Namco‘s Summer Lesson and Solfar Studios’ Godling.
Fighting game ·series ·King of Fighters will also get a new sequel, · King of Fighters XIV, next year.
Since PlayStation 4 sells so well, one might say a price cut in Japan is also unnecessary and current sales show that customers are willing to pay more.
There’s no specific pricing mentioned for the PlayStation VR till date.
“We are this super-small team, and we are making this ridiculously ambitious game, and all we are going to do in telling people when it is going to come out, probably, is disappoint them”, Murray had said.
