BMW unveils new M6 GT3 racer
The 4.4-l V8 petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology produces 441 kW (600 hp), a maximum torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) and a top speed of 305 km/h (189.5 mph).
Under the skin, key suspension components such as the springs, dampers and anti-roll bars all get a firmer tuning.
The German manufacturer, BMW has just unveiled its latest offering from its Motorsport division, the BMW M6 GT3, at the ongoing 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. To signify its special edition status are the iconic BMW M exterior body stripes that come with the package.
Since we’re talking exterior design here, we should also mention that the Competition Edition M6 models will only be available in Alpine White (as shown here) or Austin Yellow, the official launch color of the M4. The rear spoiler and diffuser, created to optimize airflow, are also formed from carbon-fiber. Contrast stitching (Opal White with Alpine White paintwork and in Yellow with Austin Yellow Metallic paintwork) as well as lettering on the cupholder lids should tell anyone entering this auto that this is an Edition model. Blacked out kidney grilles and the “M6 Competition” lettering on the door sills complete the bespoke feeling you’re buying when purchasing one of these. The interior trim strips, gear selector and M sports steering wheel spokes are made from fine, lightweight carbon fiber, while the steering wheel rim is lined with elegant Alcantara leather.
To experience the special BMW M vehicle performance dynamics on the track, M6 Competition Edition customers will receive a Performance Center Voucher upon delivery.
Heavily tested by BMW’s factory drivers, the M6 also features a six speed sequential gearbox, a much longer wheelbase compared to its Z4 predecessor and a centrally positioned driver’s seat.
Pricing for the Competition Edition option starts at €17,700, or approximately $20,000 United States dollars as of press time.
