After Greenville police spotted Lamb’s auto and began to follow him, he jumped from the vehicle and ran, law enforcement said.

Police asked the caller his name, but he doesn’t want to give it.

Students, staff, faculty and members of the community held a candlelight vigil on the Delta State campus for Ethan Schmidt, the professor killed at Delta State University on Monday.

The discovery of the apology note comes after Lamb called cops a few hours after murdering Prentiss, a church outreach minister at 10 am Monday morning to say he had shot and killed someone.

Lamb received a doctorate in education from Delta State University in the spring of 2015, according to his resume posted on the university’s website.

Lamb started working at the university in 2009 and taught geography and education classes. It looks like it could be a potential love triangle, but the suspect has vowed that he is “not going to jail”. Lamb is also accused of killing his girlfriend at their home 300 miles away. He killed himself as police closed in on him during a manhunt.

Some people thought that it might be a desk or door closing or firecrackers, but King said he thought it sounded like gunshots.

“We don’t know why this man did what he did”, said Cleveland Police Chief Charles “Buster” Bingham.

One of Lamb’s longtime friends described him Tuesday as smart, charismatic and amusing.

Late Monday night, he made good on that promise. “She and her mother were absolutely best friends”. “He always sees the big picture and I think had he been alarmed, it might have alarmed me more”, she said.
