BBC cameraman hurt whilst filming outside Jeremy Corbyn home
He tweeted: “Yesterday 2nd time in 5 days where cameraman filming Corbyn leaving house has allegedly been assaulted by an aide”.
Members of the press were pushed out of the way as the Labour leader entered a cab outside his Islington home.
Footage from the scene outside Corbyn’s North London home appears to show a camera being knocked to the ground as someone says “You smashed my camera.”
He pulls open the door of the auto to chastise Mr Corbyn for the behaviour of his driver, saying “That’s bang out of order!”
This is not the first incident that involves Corbyn and a cameraman.
The man accused of having a with the cameraman is believed to be a chauffeur paid to drive Mr Corbyn, not a Labour employee.
The BBC is expected to release a statement shortly.
When contacted, a spokesperson for the Labour party said that the incident was between the cameraman and “a driver provided by the Government vehicle Service”, adding that it was “not for them” to comment further.
A BBC cameraman is reportedly in hospital with injuries to his face and neck following an incident that took place outside the home of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn on Tuesday.
“We are looking at whether the driver was involved and the extent and nature of that involvement”, the department said. He sustained some injuries for which he’s received treatment.
A spokesman for the Department for Transport, which oversees the official cars for ministers and other VIPs, said it would issue a statement later today.
