Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson flies to United States for treatment on heel
After eight defeats in the last sixteen games, Liverpool fans are understandably pessimistic about Brendan Rodgers” ability to take the club to the next level, but according to Reds legend Steven Gerrard, things can only get better, and there’s no to “panic’. Sturridge underwent a hip operation in the United States last May.
The Reds have however scored in just three of their opening five Premier League matches, and Sturridge’s comeback can not come soon enough for Gerrard, who is now playing in the MLS for LA Galaxy.
“I think it is vital Daniel is back playing and firing as soon as possible”, added the ex-England skipper.
Since limping off the pitch against Bournemouth, Liverpool have scored a solitary goal-Benteke’s facemelter-and picked up just a single point in three matches without Henderson.
They have also lost at home to West Ham and away to Manchester United.
It appears the club have now decided to take further action as the Guardian claim that Henderson travelled to the United States on Monday where he’ll see orthopedic specialist Dr James Cozzarelli in New York this week.
The loss at Old Trafford was an insipid performance, as without their most influential player, the suspended Philippe Coutinho, they struggled to create much.
But Gerrard believes with Sturridge, Henderson and Coutinho in the same team Liverpool will be a different prospect.
Brendan Rodgers had initially hoped the midfielder would be fit to return to full training after the recent worldwide break but the injury is proving to be more hard to shift than first thought.
