Cent Faces $200 Million Lawsuit Over His Show ‘Power’
“I would like to set the record straight that the news that’s circulating in regard to “Power“, 50 Cent and myself is completely false”.
After Power caused tremors on the television front, 50 Cent was got critical acclaim from TV pundits.
It’s not a good year to be 50 Cent. TMZ reports that the rapper is being sued by a man who claims he stole his idea and turned it into the Starz series Power in 2014.
Johnson accuses 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, of copying the manuscript, claiming there are a number of similarities between the book and the star’s drama about a drug dealer trying to become a legitimate businessman.
So basically, this is what he claimed happened; In 2005, Larry said he sent a manuscript of his titled “Tribulation Of A Ghetto Kid” to a certain Nikki Turner, who at the time worked for 50 Cent’s G-Unit books. Johnson revealed that the book was published at a different company, but believes Nikki shared his manuscript with 50.
And Johnson says in his manuscript the main character’s best friend has a short fuse, just like Tommy in “Power”. In “Power”, Ghost has the hottest club in NYC.
He want $200 million for his troubles.
