Hokies preparing for Purdue, first-ever trip to Indiana

Heading into the Hokies’ game against Furman, Virginia Tech quarterback Brenden Motley wasn’t considered to be a polished, or even average, passer.

There have been encouraging indicators from Motley towards Soccer Championship Subdivision opponent Furman, through which he accomplished 16-of-24 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns, together with 9-of-10 passes within the third quarter.

The broken collarbone that Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewer suffered against Ohio State will likely keep him out for about half the season.

The Paladins, who scored 35 points and had 525 yards of offense in their season-opening loss to Coastal Carolina, finished with just 254 yards with three turnovers against Virginia Tech.

The Hokies hit the road for the first time this year with Purdue on tap Saturday, but they’ll do so without inside linebacker Andrew Motuapuaka, who could miss up to four weeks with a sprained MCL. “They got us going with a little jump start”.
