Bills’ Stephon Gilmore: ‘I hope I get Gronk’
Although New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski usually dominates the gridiron, he had a hard time figuring out what was going on when he hung out with magician Mat Franco on the football field. Gilmore’s exact words when speaking to the media on Tuesday:
“I want him.”
The Steelers had a plan to hold Gronkowski up at the line of scrimmage. But is he as big a challenge as you’ll face in the league at tight end?
“This dude (Gronkowski), he’s going to make catches”, Ryan said Wednesday, according to the Buffalo News. “But like I said, it’s whatever the coaches want me to do to help this team win”. “I’m not going to get into how we’re going to cover him”.
The Bills may find similar success in putting Gilmore on Gronkowski. The New York native has 37 catches for 543 yards and nine touchdowns in seven games against Buffalo. Though it may be a bit of an overstatement regarding the focus Gronkowski will garner, it’s understandable as to why he would draw so much attention.
They focus more on the outside receivers, particularly with Julian Edelman, who would avoid going up against the opponent’s top corner in this instance.
Even Rex Ryan acknowledged that trying to use one defender on Gronkowski would be asking for trouble. “I’m looking forward to it. I’m so glad that we play the game here”. We don’t really know yet, what our game plane is. Absolutely he is. His size, his speed, his strength, this just in, he’s pretty good.
