Kane included in Blackhawks training camp roster
Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports Kane was listed Wednesday when the Hawks released their camp roster, and they confirmed it’s anticipated the winger will be there.
Meanwhile in western New York, an investigation into alleged rape charges is still open, however, Kane has not been charged with any crime at this time.
EA Sports dropped Kane from the cover of the NHL ’16 video game, and the league chose to keep him away from their annual preseason media festivities.
All players on the roster are expected to be at camp, according to Comcast SportsNet’s Tracey Myers.
Camp opens on Friday at the University of Notre Dame. It is easy to assume that the Blackhawks anticipate Patrick Kane will be a full participant starting Friday.
The Tribune previously has reported that Kane spent the night of August 1 at SkyBar, a popular nightclub about 15 miles from his Hamburg home, staying past midnight with friends. Say what you will about Kane, but he’s always been a team player.
If anyone expects for McDonough, Bowman, or Quenneville to take questions about Kane’s investigation, they will most likely be given a scripted statement that will count towards the team’s comments on the matter. “But we got to follow the law, we’ve got to follow what’s going on”.
The Blackhawks are even more protective of their image. The best possible outcome for the Blackhawks could be Kane accepting an offer for some kind of indefinite personal leave until the case resolves, but that now appears unlikely. The Blackhawks need him to be one now more than ever.
