“FAA Dump Navigation Points Named After Trump ” CBS Miami

The Federal Aviation Administration is removing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump from the name of airplane navigation codes near Palm Beach global Airport, The New York Times reports.

The FAA says the points are near Palm Beach worldwide Airport in Florida and are now named “DONALD”. In 2010, a local air traffic controller named the points DONLD, TRMMP and UFIRED. The latter derives from Trump’s “you’re fired” catchphrase made popular in his reality TV show “The Apprentice“. The first two, of course, are references to Trump’s first and last name.

The FAA said in a statement that the agency generally chooses names that are non-controversial.

Trump has lost business relationships in recent weeks after saying that many illegal immigrants in the United States are criminals.

There’s at least one other Trump-themed navigation point, but Brown says she’s not sure what fate awaits “IVNKA ONE”.

For example in Cleveland, Ohio there is a navigational point named after hometown National Basteball Association star Lebron James.

Since navigational charts take months to update, changes to the Trump coordinates points won’t happen immediately.
