Charges laid in Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette death
The body of 2-year-old Hailey Dunbar Blanchette has been found and the Amber Alert issued in her absence cancelled.
Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette was taken from her home in Blairmore, Alberta at about 3:30 a.m. on Monday, September 14th, by what investigators are calling an “unknown person”. Victim services informed those gathered at the candlelight vigil of the discovery, and shortly thereafter, police revealed the news at a news conference.
An AMBER Alert was issued on Monday for the little girl in three provinces and Montana after she was reported missing from her Blairmore, Alberta home.
Police have a 22-year-old suspect in custody. The RCMP also believes they have located the white van Hailey was reportedly abducted in.
Hamori said police will not be releasing details about the scene where Hailey’s body was found, “in the interest of the investigation”.
“The loss of a child is the most hard sorrow a family can bear”.
When she did hang out with Saretzky and his friends years ago, Dunbar said there was never any “madness” within the friend group.
“We’re all hoping and praying we’re going to find her safely”, he said.
Hamori did say there is no safety risk to the public, but added if the van is spotted that people should call police and not engage with anyone in the vehicle.
“I’m not the bad guy for not wanting my child around drug-addicted pedofiles”, said a post attributed to Blanchette on March 8, 2013.
The Calgary Sun reports that the Amber Alert for Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette has been called off after the discovery of human remains.
