Won’t reconcile with Somnath Bharti, his estranged wife Lipika Mitra says
In a temporary relief for AAP MLA Somnath Bharti, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday said he can not be arrested till September 17.
Bharti’s wife Lipika, who was present in the courtroom, opposed the anticipatory bail plea, saying “my small kids are suffering”.
Lipika in her complaint alleged that in March 2013, Bharti physically abused her, tried to strangulate her and set his dog upon her, due to which she suffered multiple injuries. “But we advise him to come forth and take part in investigation”, said spokesperson Ashutosh.
The FIR was lodged after 4 makes an attempt at mediation between the MLA and his wife did not bear any end result and Lipika insisted that the police ought to thence act towards the AAP legislator. But they got back together and she conceived, which shows they were not estranged, he added.
While opposing Bharti’s plea, prosecutor Shailendra Babbar said the offences alleged against him were serious.
Briefed about the ignorant conduct of Mr. Somnath Bharathi, anticipatory bail was refused by a Delhi judge which makes it clear that he would be arrested soon and bail won’t be granted to him early.
The matter was mentioned this morning before a bench of justices BD Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva, who directed that it be listed before the appropriate court after Krishnan argued that the matter was urgent as there was every chance of his arrest. That is what happened with Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Law Minister of Delhi Somnath Bhartis Labrador.
Bharti was last week named in a first information report (FIR) filed under many sections of the Indian Penal Code, including domestic violence and attempt to murder, at Dwarka North police station in west Delhi.
