New England Patriots workout Terrelle Pryor
But the Browns released him last week, something else that came with a Seattle twist – the player they needed to make room for on the roster was former Seahawk running back Robert Turbin.
Former Seahawks (and a few other teams) quarterback Terrelle Pryor is reportedly expected to have a tryout with Seattle again next week – only, this time as a receiver. He was claimed off waivers by the Browns in June with the intention of using him at wide receiver.
Those individuals spoke to NJ Advance Media on condition of anonymity.
Pryor starred at quarterback for Ohio State, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors in 2008 and being named Rose Bowl MVP in 2010 after leading the Buckeyes to a win over Oregon.
It’s uncertain how Pryor might fit with the Jets, who are expecting a boost to their receiving corps from the return of second-round pick Devin Smith for Monday’s game at the Colts.
While the Jets have only two healthy quarterbacks on the roster – Ryan Fitzpatrick and rookie Bryce Petty – while Geno Smith recovers from a broken jaw, Pryor’s athleticism and potential as a receiver interests them.
Pryor was picked in the third round of the 2011 Supplemental draft by the Oakland Raiders.
Pryor signed with Kansas City in January and was released in May before being signed a few days later by Cincinnati.
But as of now, he appears to be focused on playing wide receiver, not quarterback.
