Steven Gerrard disclosed Beckham told him to join LA Galaxy
Steven Gerrard admitted he admired the “aggressive” approach that brought him to Los Angeles Galaxy and said he is raring to get going at his new club.
Keane believes Gerrard has already started setting an example to his new teammates.
In doing so, Gerrard follows in the footsteps of his fellow ex- England captain Beckham, who won the MLS Cup twice during a five-year stay in Los Angeles.
Instead of a huge conglomerate of reporters like there was for Beckham, there was a manageable throng on hand to greet Gerrard.

There were other differences, too. He hired a driver, talked to ex- Galaxy players for advice and borrowed a few sunscreen from teammate Robbie Keane. Gerrard finished his career with England as the third-most capped player in national team history and captained his country in Euro 2012 and at the 2014 World Cup.
“The last seven days has been a bit of a whirlwind”, he said.
“I have had a great week’s training so far and it won’t take too long to adjust”.
Gerrard spoke of his desire to win trophies with Galaxy.
The midfielder was unfazed when asked about difficulties of field quality, adverse weather conditions and the wear of travel in the league. With all of the marquee players joining the MLS, it’s exciting to think about the future of this league.
“We have 20 teams now, we’re expanding but you have guys like Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane, (Andrea) Pirlo, (Frank) Lampard, Michael Bradley…”
“That made me feel very important and wanted”.
The former Liverpool skipper said that he will always be a Liverpool supporter and couldn’t ever see himself playing against them.
Galaxy fans are thrilled to have Gerrard.
“David is a hero of mine, someone I was lucky to play with”.
“Within the first couple of weeks we knew it was a possibility just because we were talking about the finer details, not if he’d like to come or if we’d like to have him”, Klein said. If anyone out there thinks I’m coming here for a holiday or a last pay cheque they’ll be proved wrong very soon.
