No. 18 Auburn DB Josh Holsey out for season with torn ACL
Les Miles had his weekly radio broadcast Wednesday night, and discussed the #13 Tigers’ win over Mississippi State and preparations for the upcoming home opener against #18 Auburn.Right at the top of the show, Miles addressed the importance year-in and year-out of his team’s annual showdown with the SEC’s other batch of Tigers. Auburn was the preseason darling of the SEC media as the pick of many to come up with the SEC West title. We could have had seven or eight. Wide receiver D’haquille Williams has just five catches for 62 yards and tailback Jovon Robinson didn’t play against the Gamecocks with an ankle injury. But we spent a lot of time on what could have been the difference in a victory.”Getting more into the X’s and O’s, he discussed what type of freedom Brandon Harris has at the line in regards to checking into different plays”.
Asked what the concern would be if Lawson can’t play on Saturday, Malzahn said, “The big thing for us is we got to get better on third down and that’s been our focus”.
The Auburn Tigers and LSU Tigers square off early Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium. “Nothing has changed time table wise, everything went well and when we do get him back that will be a good addition”. Johnson is more of a pocket passer.
“This quarterback has a great arm, but we don’t know how accurate he is because we haven’t seen him in person”. “We’ve just got to play our technique”. Now the league that put a team in the national championship game every year from 2006-13 has to work a bit harder to ensure someone stands among the nation’s final four at season’s end. “We have to close the pocket and make the quarterback uncomfortable”. Fournette was not so explosive at Auburn last season, when he was held to 42 yards on 10 carries in a game LSU lost 41-7.EXTRA POINTS1. And Auburn’s offense can still be risky, even without a speedster like Nick Marshall under center, because of the running abilities of backs like Peyton Barber and Roc Thomas. Holsey has been a starter whenever he is on the field, but the defensive back re-tore the ACL he hurt in 2013.
Eating almost a touchdown is a little insane, but LSU is easily the better team here and should cover when it’s all said and done.
Will the Auburn offense ever start to work? Again, 2-0 – that’s all that matters.
We still don’t know if LSU has a passing game.
Thats what we plan on doing..
