BlackBerry Venice with Android leaked photos show the phone up close
Now, thanks to sources for Android Authority, we have what is perhaps our most comprehensive look yet… Besides some third-party pre-loaded apps, a couple really interesting widgets, and a few tricks here and there, this looks to be pretty much vanilla Android – stock Material background and all. This device has a number of BlackBerry-specific software features in addition to its notable odd hardware. The last time we saw such interest in a new ‘Berry was when the ill-fated BlackBerry Storm was being prepped for its Titanic-like maiden voyage. Instead of showing recent apps and websites in a card-style view that you can flip through, the BlackBerry Venice uses a series of tiles to display apps.
Several images that show the BlackBerry Venice fully exposed have made their way online. Second, there’s an option to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up not only a Google Now icon, but also shortcuts for device search and email apps.
As for the device itself, the BlackBerry Venice is slated to launch this November at least on AT&T and T-Mobile, and has been rumored to feature a 5.4-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display with curved edges on both sides like the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
These images were leaked earlier today with Android Authority who suggest that the boot-up sequence includes an Android logo holding up a shield. Continuing on with the focus on productivity, BlackBerry will be providing home-screen shortcuts for the event planner to setup new events and check for scheduled appointments. Around on the back of the phone lives an 18-megapixel rear camera.
